I hope this March finds you well. For me, this has been a hard winter. Spiking case numbers and much colder temps than usual in my neck of the woods have led it to feel much more closed in, and the cabin fever has been strong. Normally, we’d get a reprieve with a random 70 degree day here and there, but we were just hanging out with snow and ice and temps in the teens for weeks… Or at least it felt that way.

I’m eager for spring and the equinox to arrive. So… of course we’re hearing they’ll be a snowstorm tomorrow. March can be a wild tease, what can I say? I’m not one to criticize.

Cover Reveal!

Speaking of teases, I’d like to share with you all the cover for Book 5 of the Audacity Saga, the final book.

The pre-order will be coming soon!

But I don’t expect the book to be available until much later this year. I’ll be shooting for September and hoping to move that date up if possible. We’ll see if life will let me.

A connection to Ukraine

This cover features gorgeous art by Julie Dillon, my favorite for the whole series so far!

And the typography and layout was done by Miblart. Did you know all of these sci-fi covers were designed in Ukraine? Yep, Miblart is a Ukrainian company. The illustration for Book 4 was also done by their talented artists.

Knowing them as well as several friends and family members with a strong connection to Eastern Europe, the last two weeks have been… hard. Distracting. Surprising, too.

My heart breaks for their country, their people, for all Slavs, for free people and the right of self determination, and at the unfairness of it all. At the unnecessary pain.

At the same time, I’ve been moved by the bravery and grit of Ukraine. I’ve been awed by their audacity and courage.

For any other writers among my readers, consider joining in this effort organized by Activated Authors to raise money for Ukraine. I’ve donated to this charity as well as Razom, Nova Ukraine, and others. It’s not much, it’s not enough, but it’s something, anyway.

Here’s how the challenge works:

  1. You sign up for the challenge and receive an email with all the information you need to start clocking words.
  2. You make a donation to the British-Ukrainian Aid that supports people suffering from the war and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine by aligning UK and Ukrainian efforts.
  3. You are very welcome to spread the word about the challenge among your fellow writers.

I mean, what else can you do? Lie down dead?

Clanblades Update

Lastly, for my fantasy readers, here’s an inspiration picture I’ve been playing with for Clanblades… I hate that the process to write Book 2 is taking so long, but rest assured, it’s slow but steady. More to come….

Till then, stay warm, stay cool, stay kind.

How was your winter? What do you think of the cover?
